VitraNotch Privacy Policy

Overview

VitraNotch is developed by Nguyen Minh Dung. This Privacy Policy explains how the macOS application and its bundled Safari Web Extension handle information when you use their features.

VitraNotch is local-first. It does not require a VitraNotch account, contain advertising, use advertising identifiers, use developer-operated analytics or track you across applications and websites.

Information processed locally

Depending on the features you use, VitraNotch can process or store the following on your Mac or in its shared app container:

• Clipboard History.
• Browser Download history and progress information.
• Copies of files you intentionally add to File Shelf.
• Photos and videos you create through VitraNotch Camera.
• Application settings, onboarding state and layout preferences.
• Playback information and recent Spotify listening history used by the media interface.

This information is not sent to the developer.

Clipboard

Clipboard History is processed locally. VitraNotch ignores supported clipboard content when another application marks it as concealed, transient or confidential. Clipboard History is not sent to the developer.

File Shelf

When you add a file to File Shelf, VitraNotch creates a separate copy inside the application's sandbox. The original external file is not moved or changed. Shelf copies can be deleted by you or expire according to the configured retention settings. When possible, expired Shelf copies are moved to Trash.

Camera and Microphone

Camera frames are used locally to show the live preview and, when you choose, to take a photo or record a video. Microphone input is used only when you explicitly include audio in a video recording. Captures are stored locally and are not uploaded to the developer.

Downloads Folder

Browser Downloads needs permission to read the Downloads folder. VitraNotch uses public file-system information to display download activity and allow Reveal in Finder. VitraNotch does not upload downloaded files to a developer-operated server.

Apple Music and Spotify Automation

When you use Apple Music or Spotify controls, macOS can request Automation permission. This permission allows VitraNotch to read supported playback information and perform the media actions you choose.

YouTube in Safari

YouTube integration uses the bundled VitraNotch Safari Web Extension. The extension can read playback details on youtube.com only after you enable it and explicitly grant website access in Safari. It uses that access to synchronize the current title, artwork, playback state, timeline, available queue information and the media commands you request with the local VitraNotch app.

You do not sign in to YouTube inside VitraNotch. The developer does not receive your YouTube browsing or playback information.

Network use and third-party services

Some requested features depend on third-party services. Network access can be used to load media artwork or metadata and to communicate with Apple's StoreKit services. The Safari Web Extension works on the YouTube page you already opened in Safari and exchanges playback state with the main app through the shared app container.

VitraNotch does not operate a developer tracking endpoint, provide a Spotify sign-in flow or store Spotify account tokens. Third-party services remain subject to their own privacy policies.

Purchases

VitraNotch Pro purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit. The developer does not receive your payment-card information.

Retention and deletion

Local histories and File Shelf copies remain until they reach the applicable local limit or retention setting, or until you remove them. Pinned Shelf files and Camera captures remain until you delete them. You can clear histories in VitraNotch. Removing VitraNotch and its data containers from your Mac removes data stored solely by the app.

Sharing, advertising and tracking

VitraNotch does not sell personal information, display advertising, use an advertising identifier, use developer-operated analytics or track users across apps and websites. Information is provided to another service only when necessary for an action you intentionally request, such as an App Store purchase through Apple or sharing selected files through AirDrop.

Permissions

VitraNotch can request Camera, Microphone, Downloads Folder, Login Item, Safari Website Access and Automation when relevant features need them.

VitraNotch does not require Screen Recording, Accessibility, Location, Contacts or Photo Library access.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when VitraNotch's features or legal requirements change. The current version and effective date will remain available on this page.
